India has the largest number of illiterate people in the world - around 268 million, a staggering 35% who cannot read or write. Less than half of India's children between the age of 6 and 14 go to school. One in every four girls in rural India drops out of school before reaching the eighth standard.
Education is essential to the advancement of a society and Hunger Free Movement Foundation is dedicated to ensuring every child receives the education and they deserve. Studies show that a non-educated society is a society that breeds violence and intolerance. On the other side, an educated society promotes citizens who make thoughtful and informed decisions that have a positive impact on their lives, their families, their community and their world.
